On Sunday the 25th of September 2016, the singer-songwriter Sabrina Starke will be one of the judges during a nature festival at the park in Rotterdam. Besides Sabrina, the jury consists of other known Dutch people, like Marja van Bijsterveldt, Kees Moeliker, Jana uit Schiebroek, Marinke Steenhuis and Marc van den Tweel.
This summer Natural Monuments asked children to think about the ‘green future’ of Rotterdam. Ideas may be in any kind of form. For example; a video, drawing or a story. During the festival the best ideas will be put in a time capsule and buried at the Rotterdam Estate Temple. After 25 years, we will see how it ends up!
As a mother of two children, Sabrina thinks it’s necessary to create a good environment. ”It’s well known that green is good for the health and reduces stress and diseases. Trees also purify the polluted air from exhaust gasses, a fact that’s certainly the case in the city. But how do we actually get Rotterdam to become green and where are the opportunities? It’s fascinating to see in the videos how children see the world and what they wish for the future of Rotterdam”, she said.
